South Australian Classes 2026
October 17th - November 22nd

  • The Basic

    October 20th - 21st and/or
    October 31st - November 1st

    This class covers all of your entry-level needs to operate a chainsaw confidently. From essential maintenance, to safe handling and use, to restorative agroforestry practices, Aaron will walk you through everything you need to begin working on projects.

    Students taking this class are welcome to also attend “The Complex” advanced class on November 21st-22nd

    The specific skills covered include:
    - Safety and PPE instruction
    - Saw maintenance and chain sharpening
    - Reading the fibers of the tree
    - Felling theory
    - Other topics and skills may be introduced depending on the group’s needs and abilities

  • The Women's Workshop

    October 17th - 18th and/or
    October 24th - 25th

    Learn to handle a chainsaw confidently in a range of situations while surrounded by other women, creating an environment of support, safety, and encouragement.

    This workshop includes the same content as The Basic Workshop, but in a safe and comfy environment. Please note that your instructor, Aaron Stump, is male.

    Students taking this class are welcome to also attend “The Complex” advanced class on November 21st-22nd

  • Lil' Lumberjacks

    October 17th 18th and/or
    October 24th - 25th

    Youth between the ages of 12 to 18 are welcome to attend this session. Aimed at younger students, this workshop places greater emphasis on safety above all, while teaching students basic operation and maintenance.

    12-15 year old students will require onsite parental chaperone - please contact us for details

    Includes the same content as The Basic, but at a pace and level of understanding aimed at the younger generation

  • Advanced

    November 21st - 22nd

    If you have taken a previous class from Stump Regeneration or are otherwise familiar with basic chainsaw operation, this class will take your skills to the next level. Tackling concepts like rigging and complex planning for sustainable forest management, we invite those looking for a challenge to join us.

    If you have not previously attended a Stump Regeneration Chainsaw Workshop, please also register for “The Basic” or “The Women’s Workshop”, or contact us for more information.

    The specific skills covered include:
    - More complex types of saw cuts
    - Advanced fiber-reading theory
    - Expanded felling theory
    - Rigging, rope work, and winching
    - More complex water and biodiversity restoration applications

All workshops will take place over weekends and will run for 1-2 days, depending on interest. Class size ranges from 4 - 8 people and will be confirmed once the minimum number of participants have registered.
